How you can save time and money using Pre-packaged Cloud servers

We all know time is money. In a Cloud environment you want your applications to be up and running as soon as you have launched a Cloud server. Why pay for a server you are not really using?

ECmanaged offers you a flexible solution to deploy pre-packaged Cloud servers almost instantaneously. Application neutrality is guaranteed and any default image limitations are bypassed.

Our tech team has developed a library of templates for autodeploying different types of apps: CMS, eCommerce, CRM, systems and project management, games and so on. The only thing you have to do is choose the Cloud provider you want to launch them on, choose the app and launch the Cloud server. That first step of choosing a Cloud provider allows you to create real multi-Cloud scenarios by the way. ECmanaged is compatible with Amazon AWS, Digital Ocean, Cloudwatt, Rackspace, Linode, Eucalyptus, Exoscale as well as Openstack and Cloudstack Clouds.

ECmanaged also enables you to switch the server on and off using our Cloud management dashboard or you can even schedule that action in time! That way you can avoid paying for unused capacity.

How to deploy a pre-packaged Cloud server with a CMS through ECmanaged

With ECmanaged you can save valuable time and launch any application on any Cloud provider in just a few clicks. You only need to follow 3 simple steps. In short, ECmanaged allows you to create different types of droplets or Cloud servers:

- Simple: for quick clean and basic operating systems
- Applications: Ready-made 1-click applications
- Customized: to build your personalized droplet, adding recipes, scripts and other builder objects.
- Image or Backups: to create a droplet based on a previous instance image or backup (like a snapshot)
- Template: To launch the templates you have built using the ECmanaged builder

All types share the easy ECmanaged deployment procedure. With ECmanaged you will deploy your servers in a matter of minutes or seconds, depending on the type. A real time-saver for developers and any sysadmin. In this scenario we will use the application type.

Step 1 of 3: Choose your Cloud provider

Go to the “My Clouds” section in your ECmanaged account and select the provider (Amazon AWS) you want to deploy the Cloud server on. You will get an overview of all the servers you have with that specific provider. Now click on “New Cloud Server”. A wizard will open to guide you through a 3 step process.

Step 2: Set up the Cloud Server

The wizard will ask you some basic information in order to create the Cloud server. After completing the wizard the server will have been created on your provider account and the CMS app will be up and running.  Choose the “Application” tab and proceed to the next step. Adjust the region, size and availability zone settings. ECmanaged will provide you with an estimated cost of the server you are about to create so you can control your Cloud expenditure.

Continue the wizard and choose any of the CMS apps we created a template for ( so far we have included Wordpress, Alfresco, EZpublish, Joomla, Drupal and Moodle for CMS apps). Decide which Operating System you prefer to use. Only those OS that are compatible with the app you selected are shown.

If you want you can now deploy a script like a security upgrade and also set variables. Add the packages you want to install during deployment and provide the information needed to complete the process. Set the final settings, select your security keys or create a new pair and create tags to identify and group the server you're about to launch. You can also add the server inside a previously created Load Balancer to distribute workloads.

Step 3: Launch the Cloud server

The last screen of the wizard will show you a summary of the Cloud server you are about to create. Click on “LAUNCH” and ECmanaged will carry out the necessary backend operations to have your server up and running instantaneously. You can close the process status window or you can keep track of the process status and output of the installation and deployment.

Prepackaged application deployment has never been easier. The new Cloud server is listed automatically in both your ECmanaged account as your Cloud provider account. Remember you can switch it on and off using the ECmanaged control panel so you keep control of your Cloud expenses.
